Christie's Collection Green and Blue Flower Cycle Iznik Tile
This Iznik ceramic tile replica is based on a historical example in the Christie’s collection and has been prepared in faithful reference to the original composition used in Mesih Mehmet Pasha Mosque in Istanbul. The green and blue flower cycle arrangement reflects the balanced and rhythmic surface language of classical Ottoman tile aesthetics.
The stylized floral form expanding from the center and the surrounding border line create a cohesive pattern structure. The symmetrical placement and proportional balance produce a sense of movement across the surface without disrupting the overall order. This approach makes the design not merely a decorative motif, but a contemporary production of a historical compositional system.
This tile can be displayed as a single decorative object or used together with similar compositions in surface arrangements. For those looking for a model with a strong historical reference, it offers both collectible value and a way to bring a classical motif tradition into living spaces.

Frequently Asked Questions
Where are Iznik ceramic tiles used today?
Iznik ceramic tiles are used today both in architectural applications and decorative display areas. Traditionally found in mosques, tombs and palace structures, Iznik tiles are now also valued as aesthetic surface elements in residential interiors, art collections and design projects. They can be displayed as a single decorative object or combined with multiple tiles to create wall panel compositions.
What distinguishes Iznik tiles from other ceramics?
The main feature that distinguishes Iznik tiles from other ceramics is their connection to a distinctive design and composition tradition that began in Anatolia during the Seljuk period and reached artistic maturity in the Ottoman era. A defined system of composition and proportion, stylized motifs and a characteristic color palette give Iznik tiles their unique visual identity. In addition, the high-quartz body structure and traditional underglaze production technique are among the key technical and aesthetic features that set Iznik tiles apart from standard ceramics.
Is the Christie’s Collection Green and Blue Flower Cycle Iznik Tile Replica suitable as a gift?
Yes. This model carries a strong cultural reference because it is based on a historical Iznik tile composition from Mesih Mehmet Pasha Mosque, now associated with the Christie’s collection. As a replica, it is not only a decorative object but also a contemporary production of a historical design tradition. For collectors and those interested in classical Iznik aesthetics, it offers a meaningful gift alternative.

Installation Methods
Iznik tiles can be installed in various ways depending on their intended use and surface type:
- For decorative display, tiles may be placed inside a wooden frame or mounted onto transparent plexiglass panels and hung on the wall.
- When installing tiles on wall or floor surfaces (such as bathrooms, kitchens, or similar areas), the use of MasterTile FLX 24 or an equivalent flexible ceramic adhesive is recommended.
- During installation, it is important that no gaps (grout lines) are left between tiles, ensuring a seamless and unified appearance.
- After the adhesive application, any excess bonding material between tiles should be cleaned, and the surface should be wiped once fully dried.
- If tiles are to be applied onto steel or metal constructions, an appropriate metal-compatible adhesive must be used.
This Iznik tile is entirely handmade and produced with a high quartz content in accordance with Ottoman-period techniques. The final layer is finished with a glossy glaze.
As it is hand-painted, slight variations in color tones may occur.
It is intended for decorative purposes and is suitable for both indoor and outdoor use.
It is delivered in a velvet box together with a wooden or plexiglass stand. A certificate of authenticity is included.
