Bursa Baris Manco Cultural Center Iznik Tile Panel

Bursa Baris Manco Cultural Center Iznik Tile Panel

This special miniature tile panel, located in the Baris Manco Cultural Center of Yildirim Municipality, Bursa, was produced by Iznik Mavi Cini. Designed by Serap Ereyli, the panel focuses on the monumental landmarks that represent the cultural heritage of the Yildirim district. Together with the Cypress Tree and Spring Branch themes featured on the side panels, it creates a cohesive and balanced surface composition within the building.

The Iznik tile panel created for the Baris Manco Cultural Center aims to express local identity in a public building through an artistic surface language. During the design process, architectural and cultural elements located in Bursa’s Yildirim district and forming the historical memory of the region were selected and interpreted in a miniature style. The main panel forms the narrative center where these selected structures come together, while the Cypress Tree and Spring Branch themed panels positioned on both sides function as a complementary frame for the composition.

Throughout the production process, surface balance and readability were prioritized, taking into account the scale of the panel and the public character of the space in which it is located. The miniature narrative language draws the viewer closer to the surface through its richness of detail, while the overall composition provides a visual flow that is harmonious with the space. This work demonstrates that tile art in public buildings such as cultural centers can be considered not only as a decorative element, but also as a narrative surface.

“In public buildings, a tile panel is a powerful means of expression that brings together the cultural memory of its location on a single surface.”
— Iznik Mavi Cini, Senior Architectural Projects Production Facility Manager
