Hera Büyüktaşcıyan, Teğel, Ceramic Brussels (Galerist)

Teğel, presented jointly by Galerist and Galeri Nev as part of Ceramic Brussels 2026, brings together works by Mehtap Baydu, Hera Büyüktaşcıyan, Alev Ebüzziya, Nermin Kura, Lara Ögel, and Elif Uras. The exhibition reveals the practices of women artists from different generations who produce in distinct forms and languages, yet meet through an intuitive sense of connection. Rather than imposing a shared theme, the exhibition focuses on a quiet harmony that emerges through material, touch, and instinct, shaped around the relationship between memory, belonging, and the body’s engagement with clay.

The selection also includes our first collaborative production with Hera Büyüktaşcıyan. For the artist’s work Epiphany, the Iznik ceramic tiles were first coated with slip; the carving technique was then applied according to the determined pattern. After the first firing, the surfaces were painted using brushes and sponges, and in the final stage they were glazed with a matte glaze and fired once again. In total, 24 Iznik tiles were produced, and the work is presented in the exhibition as a vertical panel composition.
