In this tile panel, motifs representing the peacock and rebirth, inspired by the early Christian period hypogeum in Iznik, are engraved into the roots of the olive tree, one of the symbols of the region. In Iznik, the olive tree holds significant importance as a symbol of abundance and continuity. The crests on the sides of the tree are inspired by motifs found in the mosaics inside the old Hagia Sophia Church. The border design of the panel features a lily motif from the Byzantine era. The lily flower is associated with Saint Tryphon, who lived in Iznik in the 13th century. The miracle of Saint Tryphon was making lily flowers bloom in winter. For this reason, the lily motif was featured on the coins of that period and could be seen in the remnants of the Church of Saint Tryphon (now in ruins).
