Çifte Minareli Madrasah
ERZURUM
Erzurum’s Çifte Minareli Madrasah was commissioned by Hudavent Hatun, the daughter of Alaeddin I, the Sultan of the Seljuks of Rum in 1253. It is also known as the ‘Hatuniye Madrasah’ as a tribute to Hudavent Hatun. It is one of the greatest works of art in Anatolia.
For the tile restoration project that began in 2012, two main colors were used (turquoise and manganese violet) and a total of 22,500 Seljuk era tiles were produced at our facilities using face stone and monochrome glazing technique. The tiles are shaped like stars, squares, hexagons, pentagons and mosaics, in line with the tradition of the period.
